Jobster or Jobstreet?

Have you heard of these leading Dot.com manpower agencies such as Monster, Jobstreet, JobsDB? What about early starters like Kelly services in Malaysia? Definitely. These are some of the premier agencies that majority of the Malaysians turn to for job seeking assistance.  

Personally, I first registered myself with Jobstreet in 2006 when I wished to apply jobs abroad. I have to first update my resume, highlight all the best things and every little achievement that I have accomplished and submit my resume online. It does not stop there. 

Next, I have to update my particulars as per my resume online using their electronic forms. Being computer literate I have little problem completing the task. Being a proactive person, I pride myself getting the job I want always :) Randomly but with a mission, I searched and browsed the jobs available, checking out the job scopes, location, company profile, salary offered, promotions and incentives for the outperformer, and the search went on. 

I recalled emailing my job application to approximate 6 companies for PR positions, marketing, business development, communication & media etc in various industries, both in Malaysia and out of the country. I was quite lucky as I received an email for a job interview in less than 3 days. Interview was a quick 40 minutes and the rest was history. 

I got a job at a vibrant township 5 minutes drive from my house. So much for planning to work away from home! Smiles. It was a very easygoing job compared to my previous jobs and I get to work shifts and the pay is good.  

If you ask me what made me accepted the job offer, I would have to let you in on a secret. It is very identical to selecting which tutorial class to join during my university days each term. I joined the class because of the people around, and especially because of a good mentor. 

How I miss Dr Ramesh. He who doesn't push me made me run far. What a shame SHE can't keep HIM. This is not a sexist story. The SHE here refers to the company, not a lady. Dr Ramesh is a wonderful mentor and I would love to work for him given a chance. :)
